Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC2

Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) under the TVL strand equips students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.  It covers three core competencies that a high school student ought to possess: (1) Perform roughing-in activities, wiring and cabling works for single-phase distribution, power, lighting and auxiliary systems , (2) Install electrical protective devices for distribution, power, lighting, auxiliary, lightning protection and grounding systems, and (3) Install wiring devices of floor and wall mounted outlets, lighting fixtures/switches, and auxiliary outlets.

These essential competencies aligned with industry standards, including electrical safety protocols, interpreting technical drawings, wiring systems, basic electronics, and troubleshooting techniques. Emphasis is placed on hands-on training, the use of tools and equipment, and adherence to national electrical codes and occupational health and safety regulations.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Perform electrical installations following safety and legal standards.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems and components.

  • Read and interpret electrical plans and circuit diagrams.

  • Apply proper testing and inspection procedures using appropriate instruments.

This course is designed for Senior High School students pursuing a technical-vocational livelihood track, with the aim of preparing them for national certification (NC II) under TESDA and entry-level employment or entrepreneurial opportunities in the electrical field.
